Sandwiches… The True Story.

Who doesn’t love a good sandwich right? We can thank John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich for this invention. And just like when you eat a breakfast sandwich in your car and need one hand open, he needed a way to play a game of cards while eating with only one hand.

The Full Story

Earl of Sandwich: The Very First One

On a cold November evening in 1762, the 4th Earl of Sandwich—deep into a marathon card game—asked his servant for “something I can eat with one hand.” Legend says he received two slices of bread cradling thin roast beef, and thus the sandwich was born: a brilliant solution that let him play on without greasy cards.
